Abstract
This paper explores the pivotal role of libraries in implementing Nigeria's National Language Policy. Focusing on language preservation and development, it examines how libraries serve as dynamic language resource centers and learning spaces. Insights from scholars inform the discussions on the changing role of the library within the context of national language policy, which helped in articulating the strategies for the implementation of Nigeria’s national language policy in libraries. Challenges such as funding constraints and limited resources are addressed, with proposed strategies including partnerships and technology integration. The paper also identifies a range of opportunities that libraries can harness for a successful implementation of the national language policy in Nigeria. This paper, therefore, provides insights into how libraries can effectively contribute to the success of the National Language Policy in Nigeria, fostering cultural diversity and national identity.
