Abstract
Hausa came into direct contact with English language when the colonist conquered Hausa land and established their administration that brought about influx of new lexical items into Hausa language which necessitated attempts to face the challenges. The paper looks at the historical background of an effort made in the art of translating English to Hausa by governmental institutions and individuals. Also an adjustment as fundamental aspect of translation, the form of the source language is adjusted to fit in the form of the target language. The paper also attempts to looks at translation techniques on grammatical, lexical and idiomatic structure and adjustment in English -Hausa translation.
